The inaugural Cassopolis Fall Festival is coming together quite nicely.
The event, which will be held in and around downtown Cassopolis Saturday, will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Cassopolis Village Council member Cynthia Ash will welcome everyone to the festival at 10 a.m. and kick off the festivities in the parking lot behind the municipal building.
Rowland Street will be blocked off as well as S. Disbrow Street, where Tasty Twirl will hold Big Wheel races from 1 to 4 p.m.
The Pioneer Log Cabin Museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will be serving cider and donuts to visitors.
According to Cassopolis Department of Public Works Superintendent Ben Anderson, who is the festival coordinator, some 45 vendors have reserved booths.
“There is everything from arts and crafts to jewelry and quite a few food vendors,” Anderson said.
There will be live entertainment from 10:15 a.m. to 5 p.m. with an open mike.
“Everything is coming along well,” Anderson said. “Last week at the meeting the responsibilities were divided up and people decided they wanted to take things on. I think it is all in the right hands now.”
There will also be hayrides at the intersection of Jefferson and Rowland streets, a corn hole tournament at the V.F.W., the chili cook-off judging from 3 to 3:30 p.m., a high school helper auction from 3:30 to 4 p.m. and the announcement of the poster contest winner at 4:30 p.m.
Citizens can still compete in the chili cook-off by showing up at 3 p.m. for the judging.
