Niles 0-2-1 at Gull Lake Mini

RICHLAND — The Niles volleyball team lost to Hudsonville (2-0), split with Kalamazoo Christian (1-1) and lost to St. Joseph (2-0) at the Gull Lake Mini Tuesday night.

Hudsonville defeated the Vikings 25-22 and 25-14. Niles split with the Comets 25-16 and 24-26 before falling to the Bears 25-18 and 25-14.

“We started out a little slow tonight,” Niles coach Jenny Nate said. “I felt like we were one step behind the first couple of sets. We came on strong against Kalamazoo Christian and took the first set, but just couldn’t close the second.

“We fought hard against St. Joe, but we need to work hard on capitalizing every point, minimizing errors and strengthening our mental toughness.”
