Audrey E. Hansen, age 84 years of Berrien Center, Michigan died at 5:10 a.m. on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in Saint Joseph, Michigan following an extended illness.

She was born on June 16, 1929 in Berrien Springs to Walter Clarence and Mary Anna (Buck) Leiting, and was graduated from Niles High School in 1947. She has lived in this area all of her life, and was employed in the offices of the former Electro-Voice plant in Buchanan, Michigan for thirty-one years, retiring in 1986.

Audrey was a member of Berrien Center Bible Church where she also sang in the choir, and taught Sunday School for over fifty-five years. She also volunteered at Berrien County Youth Fair. She enjoyed cooking, and excelled at homemade noodles and pies, but her greatest interest was her family, attending and assisting with every event in which her children, and then her grandchildren participated.

On September 4, 1949 in Berrien Springs she married Earl N. Hansen with whom she celebrated two weeks ago the sixty-fourth anniversary of their wedding.

She is survived by her husband, Earl and their children, Diane K. (& Dr. James) Grannell and Kirk W. (& Debbie) Hansen, both of Niles, Michigan; grandchildren Dr. Justin (& Alicia) Grannell, Josh Grannell, Jami Grannell, and Jenna Grannell; great-grandchild Peyton Joy Grannell; Audrey’s brother, Donald Leiting of Anchorage, Alaska; and Earl’s sister, Viola Rudowske of Watkinsville, Georgia; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Robert Leiting of Cassopolis, Michigan.

The funeral service for Audrey Hansen will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 20, 2013 at the Berrien Center Bible Church with the Rev. Mark Smith and the Rev. Maynard Schoen officiating. Committal will follow at Mission Hills.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the church. Contributions in memory of Mrs. Hansen may be made to the Berrien Center Bible Church, 8830 M-140, Berrien Center, MI 49102; or to the Berrien County Youth Fair, 9122 Old U.S.31, Berrien Springs, MI 49103. Arrangements were made at the Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles.
