The Happily Ever After Children’s Literature Festival will host its first annual event at the Niles Senior Center located in Niles, on Sunday, Aug. 25, from 2–6 p.m.
Local children’s authors will be present to sell and sign books. Activities for kids include storytelling, writing adventures, crafts, games, a costume contest, storybook cupcakes, and beverages and more.
The growing number of local children’s authors who will be attending the event include Mark Redmond, Judith Roth, Nancy Glon and Walt Ward. Professional interactive storyteller Kathy Zmuda will be entertaining kids and there will be several children’s books available for sale.
Entry into the event is by ticket only. Tickets may be available at the door, but should be ordered ahead of time at $7 each at www.showclix.com/event/HEAChildrensLitFest. The ticket purchase covers entry fee, crafts, games, storybook costume character contest, prizes, storytelling times, writing activities and giveaways. Ticket purchase does not include purchase of books, food and drink, face painting or cost of photos.
This event was inspired by Director Cindy Lynn Jacobs’ recently adopted granddaughter and another family’s need to raise more funds to adopt a little boy with a potentially fatal skin disease. The event is geared toward children to encourage both reading and writing, combined with creative fun.
The festival committee is still recruiting volunteers, authors and sponsors for the event. Please contact Cindy Lynn Jacobs at (574) 309-1763 or e-mail at cinjapromo@yahoo.com if you are interested in participating in the festival.
