The $7,848 jackpot Thurman Chennault of Dowagiac won July 10 made a great birthday present.

In fact, when the precise month, date and year of his birth came up on the eve of his birthday, “At that point I just knew I was going to hit it,” he said Friday.

Chennault, who is semi-retired, said he intends to pay some bills and bank or invest his largest jackpot, which he hit on the Double Diamond slot machine.

About three years ago he won $5,000 at FireKeepers Casino in Battle Creek.

Three weeks ago he collected $1,600 playing Tarzan and Jane.

He said he played Double Diamond for several weeks and “lucked out” to be there when it delivered a big payday.
