Fourth of July events

The Fourth of July holiday is a time to celebrate the United States’ adoption of the Declaration of Independence.
It’s also a time for family fun, food, warm weather and, of course, fireworks.
There are plenty of options in southwestern Michigan for those wanting to take in a fireworks show or sip on a cool beverage during the 2013 Fourth of July holiday week.
Below is list of Fourth of July activities and fireworks shows:
Fireworks displays
• Baroda — Baroda’s fireworks display is set for dusk July 3 at the Baroda American Legion, 9214 First St., Baroda.
• New Buffalo — New Buffalo will have its fireworks show at New Buffalo Beach, 100 Marquette Drive in New Buffalo beginning at dusk July 3.
• Niles — The Four Flags Area Chamber of Commerce and Niles will hold their annual fireworks show Wednesday, July 3 at the Four Flags Area Apple Festival Fairgrounds in Niles near the intersection of N. 17th Street and Lake Street. The show begins at dusk. The show and parking is free, but donations are appreciated. Food vendors will be available.
• Sister Lakes — The Sister Lakes Lions Club will have its spectacular Independence Day fireworks show on Saturday, July 6 at Lions Park, 66991 95th Ave. Fireworks will begin immediately after the celebration raffle drawing at 10 p.m. Bring a blanket or a folding chair and enjoy the show. Admission is free, but donations are welcome. Refreshments will be available. In case of rain, the fireworks show will be on Sunday, July 7 — same time, same place.
• St. Joseph — The City of St. Joseph will hold its annual fireworks display at dusk July 4. Fireworks are shot off the North Pier Lighthouse at Silver Beach.
Other events
• Baroda — A Baroda Fireworks party featuring food and live music by Alligator Blackbird will be held from 6-11 p.m. July 3 at Round Barn Brewery and Public House, 9151 First St., Baroda. Also, Round Barn Winery will host a Reds, Whites and Brews party July 6-7 from 1-7 p.m. featuring craft brews, live music and live brewing demonstrations. Musicians include Everyday People, Mr. Blotto, Top Secret and Alligator Blackbird.
