Up Front Art Walk awards cash prizes

During The Dogwood Fine Arts Festival Up Front Art Walk, a 10-day art show, selected artists from across Southwest Michigan and Northern Indiana displayed original artworks in various mediums, including oil, watercolor, glass, mixed medium and photography in downtown Dowagiac merchant windows.

 

The festival awarded cash prizes to artists in three categories.

 

Best of Show and first runner-up were selected by professional guest judges, Tami Miller, curator at Krasl, and Marc Dombrosky, chair of the Department of Visual and Performing Arts at Southwestern Michigan College.

 

People’s Choice was awarded to the winner of the popular vote by the viewing public. The Best of Show award ribbon and prize of $250 were won by Bonnie Rock of Plymouth, Ind., for “A Patch of Blue” hosted by The Mane Attraction.

 

The first runner-up ribbon and prize of $150 were awarded to Ronald Stec, of Stevensville, for “Winter Friends” displayed by Glamour Plus.

 

The People’s Choice award ribbon and $100 prize were bestowed on Marsha Penn, of Marcellus, for “Maggie’s Butterfly” hosted by The Marshall Shoppe.
