The Brandywine softball team just keeps on winning,
The Bobcats hosted Centreville in a non-league doubleheader Wednesday afternoon and defeated the Bulldogs 12-1 and 7-1.
The sweep improved Brandywine to 19-4 on the season.
In the first game, the Bobcats refused to relinquish the lead after grabbing it early against Centerville.
With seven runs in the first three innings, Bobcats left no doubt about the eventual outcome.
An RBI double by Michaela Hartline and a passed ball in the first inning and an RBI double by Makenna Hartline and three errors during the second inning fueled Bobcats’ offense early.
Makenna Hartline racked up three RBIs on two hits for Bobcats.
Mikayla Kemp pitched lights out for Bobcats. Kemp gave up just two hits, allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out five during her four innings of work.
Brandywine put the game away with five runs in the fourth. Bobcats scored on a two-run single by Kelly Harper, a walk by Ayralynn Lasane and a two-run double by Makenna Hartline.
In the nightcap, Kemp was strong at the plate and on the rubber.
Kemp had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. She doubled in the first inning, homered in the third inning and singled in the fifth inning.
Kemp picked up the win for Bobcats. Kemp pitched seven innings and allowed one earned run, five hits and no walks while striking out three.
Six runs in the first three innings aided the Bobcats in the victory. An RBI single by Michaela Hartline, an RBI double by Harper and an RBI double by Kemp during the first inning was followed up by an RBI single by Justine Sater and an RBI double by Rachael Ort in the second inning fueled Bobcats’ offense early.
The Bobcats’ Kemp, Katelyn Dolgos and Michaela Hartline combined for six hits and four RBIs.
Centerville scored its only run of the game on a solo home run in the second inning.
The Bobcats answered the Bulldogs s with two runs of its own in the second.
Brandywine brought home one run in the third inning and matched that run total in the fifth. In the third, Bobcats scored on a solo home run by Kemp.
