Eddies swept former Lakeland foe Buchanan

The Edwardsburg baseball team swept a non-league doubleheader from former Lakeland Conference foe Buchanan Wednesday.

The Eddies (9-4) won the opener 13-10 before completing the sweep with a 15-0, three-inning victory in the nightcap.

Edwardsburg banged out 17 hits in scoring 13 runs in the first game.

Dalton Raymond had three hits, including a double and a triple. Michael Kempton, Taylor Reynolds and Jordan Bosse all doubled for the Eddies. Maris Marazita and Derek Pierce both had two hits for Edwardsburg.

Adam Gnott picked up the victory for the Eddies with relief help from Jackson Gaideski and Brett Bowman.

In the second game, Keith Boeker picked up the victory.

Edwardsburg used a 12-run third inning to end the game due to the mercy rule.

All 11 of the Eddies’ hits in the contest were singles. Marazita, Bowman and Boeker all had two hits.
