To the editor:

On Feb. 2, 2013, I had to call 911 for an ambulance for my husband, Chuck. As is procedure, the Howard Township firefighters arrived first. They were very kind and caring, even plowing the driveway enough for the ambulance to get in. Their calm and professional demeanor kept me calm. On Feb. 10, 2013, Chuck passed away.
Two weeks after he passed away I had to call 911 again, this time for me. Again Howard Township firefighters arrived first. This time their calm, kind and caring behavior kept me calm. I had to have emergency open heart surgery the next day.
I want to thank the firefighters and the ambulance crews for all their help during my crisis.
Niles and Howard Township can be very proud of their crews.
