VICKSBURG — Visiting Dowagiac committed seven errors in losing a Wolverine Conference non-league softball doubleheader to Vicksburg Tuesday.

The Chieftains lost 11-1 in the first game and 10-2 in the nightcap.

“Although the scores are lopsided, we played better tonight than we did last Friday, Dowagiac coach Mike Behnke said. “Vicksburg is a very good hitting team and they showed it tonight. We did make a lot of plays, but unfortunately we bunched our mistakes together, which led to big innings for Vicksburg. Once we get everybody on the same page and make the plays I know we can make, we will be a very competitive team.”

Alyssa Allen took the loss in the first game.

The Chieftains managed just three hits — Rachel Bailey, Brianna McCuddy and Corinne Kasper.

In the second game, Sabrina Ruiz took the loss in her first varsity start.

Emily Roach was 3-for-4 with a double for Dowagiac, which finished with nine hits.
