The Brandywine tennis team braved windy, cold conditions to win its own Brandywine Classic at Plym Park Saturday afternoon.

The tournament’s start time was pushed back due to the cold weather.

The Bobcats won seven of the eight flight championships to defeat South Bend Riley and Comstock. Brandywine finished with 22 points, Riley 15 and Comstock 11.

Winning singles championships for the Bobcats were Jessica Blank, Victoria Knight and Alicia Prescott.

Mackenzie Shelton and Ashely DeJonge, Rachel Gipson and Allison Srmek, Abby Cole and Caitlyn Cummins, along with Cassidy Purucker and Amber Brant were the doubles champions for Brandywine.

“Despite the cold weather, all three teams were glad they could finally play,” Brandywine coach Joe Marazita said. “Jessica (Blank) continues to play well as did Mackenzie and Ashley at our top flights.”
