Starfish Story #11/Tribute to secretaries

There are many groups responsible for the operation of the Dowagiac Union Schools. Teachers, para-pros, administrators, bus drivers, maintenance, janitorial, food service and media specialists are some that come to mind.

But today I would like to highlight one other, the secretarial staff.

First are our building secretaries. This group’s responsibilities are quite varied. They are the first line for medical necessities, shipping and receiving clerks, responsible for numerous data entry systems, building purchasers and logistic managers.

All while being the front end contact for parents and students.

They switch all of these hats on and off with a smile.

Accomplishing these duties efficiently, effectively and professionally.

Secondly are the secretarial staff at administration, the bus garage and the warehouse. While these individuals may not always interface with parents and students, their jobs are just as diversified and important for the day-to-day operation of the district.

These individuals keep the back office processes of the Dowagiac Schools humming along.

It has long been my belief that the secretaries are the glue for all of us.

Without their dedication and expertise things would certainly be much different.

My hat’s off to the entire group we call secretaries with a sincere THANK YOU!
