PAW PAW — It was a clean sweep for Portage Central at the Paw Paw Grape and Wine Run Thursday.

The Mustangs won both the boys and girls titles. The Mustangs scored 36 points to defeat Mattawan (46) for the boys crown. Otsego was third with 49 points, Lakeshore fourth with 95 and Niles fifth with 153. Dowagiac placed eighth with 196 points.

Connor Wuori was the overall winner with a time of 16:59.

Noah Hall was the top finisher for Niles as he placed 22nd with a time of 19:32. Ben Thompson led Dowagiac with a 30th place finish and a time of 20:21.

Portage Central had 38 points in the girls race to easily outdistance runner-up Mattawan, which finished with 61 points. Otsego was third with 82, Niles fourth with 123 and Paw Paw fifth with 120. Dowagiac finished eighth with 201.

Kayla DePierre of host Paw Paw was the overall winner with a time of 19:29.

Bridgett Carpenter led Niles with a 16th place finish and a time of 22:59. Christine Preston finished 32nd for Dowagiac with a time of 25:00.
