A park will be dedicated to the late Ronald Bass Friday afternoon in Cassopolis, honoring the public works director and offering a beacon for remembrance.

The park, located at West State and Disbrow streets in downtown Cassopolis, was voted unanimously in April to be named after Bass, who worked for the village for 21 years. The park includes a bench and memorial marker and will be named “Ronald Bass Memorial Park.”

The official dedication ceremony is expected to also have members of Bass’ family present.

The dedication ceremony is scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at the park and the public is welcome to attend.

Bass, 50, died of natural causes suddenly after the April 9 village council meeting.
