Lakeland offers breastfeeding, healthy eating classes

Breastfeeding class

A breastfeeding class for mothers and fathers is from 6 to 8:30 p.m. June 5 in the Buchanan Area Health Resource Library at Lakeland Community Hospital, Niles, 31 N. St. Joseph Ave.

Lakeland HealthCare’s certified lactation counselor will discuss breastfeeding from delivery room to postpartum, the use of breast pumps, weaning, returning to work and other topics.

The cost for the breastfeeding class is $30, due at the time of registration. To register, call (269) 556-2808.

Eating right

Lakeland HealthCare will present “Eating Right for a Healthy Heart” in Niles and St. Joseph at 6 p.m. on various dates throughout June.

• June 6: Lakeland Community Hospital, Niles, 31 N. St. Joseph Ave., Niles

• June 21: Lakeland Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph, 1234 Napier Ave., St. Joseph

At this free program, a registered dietitian will discuss how better food habits can help reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke and give participants tips on following the American Heart Association’s eating plan.
