SMC instructor awarded ‘top educator’

Southwestern Michigan College graphic design instructor Bill Rothwell was named the recipient of the coveted Dean Collins Scholarship Award.

Rothwell received the award, which is given annually to a high school or college educator, during the Photoshop World conference in Washington, D.C. in March.

Rothwell was nominated by former SMC student Michelle Maret. The scholarship is named after well-known photography expert, Dean Collins. As part of the award, Rothwell received a full conference pass, airfare, hotel accommodations, subscription to Photoshop World and a full suite DVD training from Dean Collins.

“I was honored and quite in awe,” he said, after receiving the award. Rothwell has taught graphic design at SMC since 1999.
