Daily Star photo/KATIE ROHMAN Shannon Frame, owner of Studio 224, moved her salon from 224 N. Front St. to 227 E. Main St. last month.

East Main Street has seen a flurry of activity lately as existing businesses relocate to the heart of downtown and new ones set up shop there.

One of those businesses is Studio 224, a hair salon previously at 224 N. Front St.

Owner Shannon Frame said the decision to move to 227 E. Main St., formerly home to The Shoppe Hair Salon, was an easy one.

“We’ve just outgrown there,” Frame said. “I always thought I was downtown, but moving here, I really feel like I am part of the downtown. You couldn’t pick a better location.”

The corner spot was vacated when The Shoppe closed in February. Frame renovated the interior and opened within a month, on Feb. 28. Her friends and family, including her husband, Jeremy — “my repairman” — helped paint and decorate the salon. A previous massage therapy room is now a waiting room with a coffee bar and TV for clients.

Frame, a Buchanan resident and mother of two, has been a stylist for eight years. She worked at Studio 224  when it was called the Joseph Scott Salon and purchased the equipment four years ago from the previous owner and changed the name.

Studio 224 offers cuts, colors, perms and facial waxing. Frame has five stylists and may be hiring more.

She is a big believer in continuing education for herself and her stylists. Frame attended Redken training in New York, and others at her salon have received training from around the country.

“And I like to push my girls, too,” said Frame, is also a big proponent of providing good customer service.

“Customer service has always been something to me that’s important,” she said. “From doing hair, I’ve made a lot of friends in my seats.”

Frame said she is optimistic about her business move.

“I am just really, really excited,” she said. “I’m excited for the clients as well as the stylists.”
