John Morseau, 66

John Joseph Morseau’s journey began on Sept. 5, 1945, in Dowagiac, the son of Raymond M. and Madeline (Augusta) Morseau. He was employed by the Pokagon Band of the Potawatomi Indians in their food commodities department.
He was united in marriage to Julie Hartman on Jan. 3, 2012, at their home in Cassopolis. John was a member of the Dowagiac Eagles and Dowagiac Moose. He served on the Elder’s Council of the Pokagon Band and enjoyed playing church league softball in Volinia.
His loving family includes his wife, Julie Hartman, of Cassopolis; his children, Rochelle Morseau of Mattawan, Shannon Morseau of Dowagiac, Sonya Morseau of Dowagiac, and Coyte Eberhardt of Cassopolis; grandchildren, Jessica (James) Fortuna of Niles, Skylar Herman of Niles, Kadyn Wesaw of Mattawan, Derrick, Nathan and Logan Hiler, all of Dowagiac, and Presley Adams of Dowagiac; great-grandchildren, Lucas Fortuna and Keera Herman; siblings, Marie Manley of Niles, Cathy (Mark) Ford of Bellville, and Ronald (Sandy) Morseau of Dowagiac.
John passed away on Friday March 2, at his home.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Raymond, Thomas, Leonard, Frances and Sylvia Morseau.
His family gathered with friends March 4 from 3 to 5 p.m. at Yazel & Clark Chapel where Father Kevin Covert will lead a rosary service at 5 p.m. and Mr. Clarence Sarrett of the Pokagon Band will conduct tribal rites.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m. at Holy Maternity of Mary Catholic Church in Dowagiac. He was laid to rest with tribal rites in Sacred Heart of Mary (Silver Creek) Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in his name may be directed to Hospice at Home.
