Zarah Rickman Pompey Calloway, 97, passed away peacefully Dec. 15, 2011.
She was born April 18, 1914, in Calvin Township.

She lived part of her life in Cassopolis. She later moved to Denver and then to Indianapolis.
Zarah was a warm, caring, kind and affectionate mother, grandmother and aunt. She enjoyed baking, traveling and spending time with her family. She was also a member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses.
She was a loving daughter of the late William and Alta (Day) Rickman. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Vandalear Rickman and Milford Rickman; her first husband, Casper Pompey, on Sept. 26, 1965; her second husband, Thomas Calloway, on Oct. 24, 1988; and her son, Sgt. Charles E. (Hattie) Pompey, on Nov. 11, 1999.
Zarah is survived by her sister, Waustella (Parker) Lawrence, 91, of Harrah, Okla.; her children, Flossie (Bruce) Monticue of Denver, Rosalene (James) Fordyce of Cassopolis, Leonard (Deanna) Pompey of Denver, LeRoy (Mary) Kinnison of Cassopolis, Thelma (Willie) Rockett of Denver, Dixie (Solomon) Johnson of Indianapolis, Violet (Joseph) Barber of Elkhart, Patricia (Robert) Aloisio of Cassopolis and Linda (Robert) Collins of Mishawaka; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
There will be no memorial services or visitation.
