A night of classical music will benefit the Niles Pregnancy Care Center.

Internationally renown classical musicians Siegfried and Christer Tepper, a father and son duo out of North Carolina, will play 7 p.m. Feb. 18 at Michiana Christian Embassy in Niles.

Siegfried is an internationally recognized pianist, composer, conductor and Christian evangelist, and his son Christer is a critically acclaimed concert violinist.

They began the family ministry in 1993 in Canada. They now tour globally and have recorded several studio and live albums.

There will also be a silent auction at the event with all proceed benefiting the Pregnancy Care Center. A punch bowl dessert and preview of the auction items will take place at 6:30 p.m.

Jennifer Smith, executive director of the Pregnancy Care Center, said the money raised will help the organization get its new ultrasound machine up and running.

“We have been working on being able to provide ultrasounds for a while,” she said. “We have the machine, the table and examining room.”

But the center still needs about $12,000 to fund staff training and other administrative costs to begin providing ultrasounds.

The Pregnancy Care Center, which has been offering abortion alternatives and other services to expectant mothers and fathers in Niles for more than 25 years, recently moved into its new, more spacious location at 527 E. Main St.

Another area church, Hope Community Church in Niles, helped make the new building a reality when it donated $10,500 to the cause last year.

“We try to be involved with the community,” Smith said, “and communicate that every life matters. Women need to know their lives matter, the father matters and their children matter, to make sure our community is valuing life at every stage.”
