Frances P. Shank, 95, of Cassopolis, loving mother, devoted Catholic, died Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012, at Silverbrook Manor in Niles.
She was born June 3, 1916, in South Bend to Thomas and Antoinette (Nowinski) Stachurski. She married Ernest Shank on Nov. 28, 1937, in Cassopolis. He preceded her in death on Feb. 1, 1969. She was also preceded in death by her parents and 12 siblings.
She helped her husband Ernie and her son Fred manage Shank’s TV and Appliance for 62 years.

She was a member of Saint Ann Catholic Church, Cassopolis, and a member of the Daughters of Saint Ann, and had served as its president. She loved gardening, reading, and most especially dancing. She was a member of the Council on Aging since its inception.
Frances is survived by one daughter, Beverly Stukenborg of Chebanse, Ill.; one son, Fred (Jill) Shank of Cassopolis; five grandchildren, John (Michaela) Stukenborg of South Bend, David (Kris) Stukenborg of Bourbonnais, Ill., Scott (Deborah) Stukenborg of Indianapolis, Michelle (Jeff) Davis of Lakeville, Minn. and Ernie Fred Shank of Cassopolis; and six great-grandchildren, Brittney Stukenborg, Cody Stukenborg, John Stukenborg, Joe Stukenborg, Elijah Stukenborg and Liam Stukenborg.
Family and friends will gather Friday, Jan. 20, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Connelly Chapel Wagner Family Funerals, 202 N. Broadway St., Cassopolis. A prayer vigil will be held Friday at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. A funeral Mass will be on Saturday, Jan. 21, at 10 a.m. at Saint Ann Catholic Church, 421 N. Broadway St., Cassopolis ,with the Rev. Father Donald G. Potts officiating. Interment will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Cassopolis.
The family prefers memorial contributions be made to Cass COA, P.O. Box 5, Cassopolis, MI 49031.
