Betty Jean Ballge, 82, of Edwardsburg, passed to her rest Jan. 3, 2012, at her home after a brief illness.
She was born Oct. 21, 1929 in Lansing, Mich. to Ted and Sadie (Best) Moon.
Betty was co-owner with her husband of the former Dale’s Trusses in Elkhart, had worked at Martin’s Super Market and had also been a bookkeeper. Most of all, she loved her family and enjoyed quilting and sewing. Other interests were her garden and being a wife and mother in her home.
Betty married Dale B. Ballge Dec. 4, 1948 in Flint. He survived with their children, Leo Ballge of Edwardsburg, Duane (Val) Ballge of Bristol, Ind., Kenneth (Donna) Ballge of Edwardsburg and Lonnie (Lethia) Ballge of Niles; 20 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. There are three sisters, Irene (Bill) Nickell of Elkhart; Dorothy Gaines of Flint; and Ruth Schott of Bristol, Ind.
Family who have passed are her parents and a brother, Ivan Moon.
Friends and family gathered Sunday, Jan. 8, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home, 26863 W. Main St., and at 5 p.m. there was a short service of remembrance. On Monday, Jan. 9, there was a time to gather in the mausoleum at Sunset Hills Cemetery, 4413 Flushing Rd., Flint, when a service was held at 1 p.m.
