Dowagiac Senior Center

Most exterior work on Cass County Council on Aging’s Dowagiac Senior Center is complete. Walls are going up inside.

“Inside is framed and dry walled,” Bob Long, who handles charitable giving for the COA, said Wednesday from Cassopolis. “It looks like a building inside, so we’re getting excited.”

COA Executive Director Bob Cochrane said the center remains on track for a late March or early April opening.

There will be three entrances — the main one facing Front Street where the pet store was, one off the parking lot to the cafe where KFC and the doughnut shop were and a second one to the rear education center where Big Eddie’s, Hungry Howie’s, Lyons’ butcher shop and the Art Guild Rose Gallery used to be.
