BUCHANAN — When Deb Hoese chose a second career, she wanted a job that was not only part-time, but something that she loved to do.

Hoese, a lifelong Niles resident and married mother of two, retired from Ford Credit, but still wanted something to occupy her time.

“I’ve been in finance my whole life,” she said.

Hoese said her daughter, Jen Brouwer Hoese, owner The Shoppe Hair Salon in Niles, “planted the seed.”

“I love people. I just love facials,” she said.

Hoese attended Vogue School of Beauty in Mishawaka and Bioelements in Chicago. She started at The Shoppe in March 2007.

Hoese had been working as a part-time assistant at Dr. Eugene Benedict’s optometrist office in Buchanan since August 2010, and knew of a vacant office space next door.

She left The Shoppe and opened Deb’s Skin Care Studio in September. Her most popular treatments are anti-aging and acne facials. She also offers relaxing body massage, facial waxing, sugar hair removal and a full line of various facials for every skin type.
