Small town, big heart

To the editor:

Many people would drive through Edwardsburg without a second glance. But those of us who live here know what a special community it is.
Where else will you find 200 people of all faiths and ages gathered together to pack food baskets for Thanksgiving and Christmas? Many area churches work to fund and support the food pantry and provide utility assistance, including pancake breakfasts, salad luncheons and the annual Stuff-a-Bus.
This year, a very special group of men, the Knights of Columbus, collected and refurbished 100 used bikes to give away to children.
Then there’s the Lions Club, which provides funding for leader dogs, eye exams and glasses. They also purchased 300 pairs of reading glasses for veterans this year.
Perhaps more amazing is the Leo Club, a new service group established at the high school this year. The club has grown to more than 100 members and been involved in too many projects to list.
I am so proud to live in our small town with a big heart!
