Santa replenishes pantries

Santa greeted each child such as Kam with a book at Cass District Library Main Branch Saturday.

CASSOPOLIS — More than 80 children enjoyed the Family Holiday Event Saturday at Cass District Library Main Branch.
This free event was co-sponsored by Cass County Great Start Parent Coalition and Great Start 0-5.
Santa greeted each child with a book, while parents took pictures.
Children made frames for their pictures as well as created a variety of other crafts.
Families enjoyed a storytelling time and a Christmas puppet show. Children 0-5 were able to have free vision screening provided by Edwardsburg Lions Club.
Donations for refreshments were provided by Harding’s of Cassopolis, Family Fare of Dowagiac, Cassopolis Family Clinic, Martin’s of Niles and community members.
They gave away 20 door prizes donated by: McDonald’s; Elkhart General Hospital; The Maple Cafe , Edwardsburg; Who Knew Consignment,  Dowagiac; Zeke’s, Dowagiac; Dussel’s, Cassopolis; Zeta Chi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi; Saylor’s, Dowagiac; Well Being Nutrition and Wellness Services,  Cassopolis;  and individuals of the Parent Coalition.
Families who attended gave back to the community by bringing non-perishable food items.  These items were delivered to St.Vincent De Paul in Dowagiac, the Marcellus Food Pantry and Compassion Cupboard in Cassopolis.
