An article written by Robert LaBre, J.D., of the LaBre Law Office in Edwardsburg, was published in the December 2011 issue of the Michigan Bar Journal, the official publication of the Michigan State Bar.
The article, titled “Beyond Mann: A Theory for Establishing the Accumulation of Snow and Ice as an Effectively Unavoidable Risk of Harm,” urges Michigan Courts to reevaluate current case law holding that landowners generally have no duty to warn or remove snow or ice accumulations on their premises for their employees or patrons.
Robert LaBre served in the Marine Corps 2nd Reconnaissance Battalion before college, and during undergrad in the Army National Guard with the Scouts. He graduated from Western Michigan University and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. He currently practices law in both Michigan and Indiana.
LaBre’s article was published as part of a “general” issue of the Michigan Bar Journal, which requires approval by the magazine’s publishing committee. His article was accepted on the basis of relevance to current legal issues in the state, organization, and clarity of discussion.
