A Niles man is dead after crashing a vehicle into a concrete pillar on U.S. 12 in Bertrand Township Sunday afternoon.

Michigan State Police troopers say 23-year-old Andrew Wuthnow was traveling east on U.S. 12 when the vehicle left the roadway and crashed into a concrete bridge support pillar near the U.S. 31 bypass at about 5:30 p.m.

No other person or vehicle was involved in crash. Alcohol is not suspected, and the driver was not wearing a seatbelt.

Buchanan police, SMCAS, Berrien County Sheriff’s Department and Bertrand Township fire assisted.
