Cassopolis improves to 2-0 with win over Shamrocks

BERRIEN SPRINGS — Visiting Cassopolis outscored Berrien Springs 15-10 in the first half and maintained that advantage throughout the second half as it defeated the Shamrocks 36-31 Friday night.

Both teams scored 21 second half points in their Lakeland Conference opener.

The Rangers (2-0, 1-0 Lakeland) led at every quarter break. Cassopolis grabbed an 8-6 lead after one quarter and extended its advantage to 15-10 at halftime.

Berrien Springs (0-2, 0-1 Lakeland) outscored the Rangers 12-9 in the third quarter to cut the lead to 24-22 heading into the final eight minutes of action.

Cassopolis responded with 12 fourth quarter points, while holding the Shamrocks to nine points.

Courtney Moore led Cassopolis and all scorers with 17 points. Reese Ellison added eight and Tammy Lee six.

Stefani Camacho led Berrien Springs with nine points.
