Martin’s seeks ‘Secret Santas’ for seniors

Martin’s Super Markets will host its eighth annual “Secret Santa for Seniors” program at all locations through Sunday. Hours vary by store.

The program makes it possible for community volunteers to deliver Christmas presents to areas seniors who may not otherwise receive a gift this holiday season.

Holiday shoppers are encouraged to choose an ornament with the first name of a financially needy senior and his or her gift requests from a special tree, which will be located near the entrance at every Martin’s store. Shoppers can then buy the item or items listed and leave them, along with the ornament attached, at a staffed collection area after they check out. Volunteers will be available to assist with any questions shoppers might have.

Last year’s program collected, wrapped and delivered more than 5,400 gifts for more than 2,000 local seniors.  With the community’s help, volunteers hope to collect an even greater number of gifts this holiday season.
