Dorothy Love, 89

Dorothy Jean Love, 89, of Edwardsburg, passed to her rest at noon Thursday, Nov. 24, 2011, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka, after a brief illness.
She was born Oct. 15, 1922, in New Goshen, Ind. to the late William Alfred and Goldie (Standish) Cox.
Dorothy came to the South Bend area in 1942 and began working at the Bendix Corp. during World War II. Then she and her husband, Carl, managed the Isaac Walton League, at which times they acted as caterers, hosting many gatherings and conference dinners. But most of all, her life was spent as a loving wife and mother in her home.
Dorothy was married May 4, 1946, in River Park to Carl Leonard Love, and he survives with two children, Carla Jean (Norm) LaMunion of Plymouth, Ind., and Dennis (Hilda) Love of South Bend. There are two dear grandchildren, Nathaniel Gregory Smith of Nevada and Jesse Rangel of Kalamazoo. There are also three siblings: Mary Lou Morris of Banning, Calif.; Audrey Bell Deuschle of Fenton, Mo.; and Alfred Leroy (Frances) Cox of Terre Haute, Ind. There are many dear nieces and nephews.
Dorothy and Carl moved to the Edwardsburg area in 1962. The Edwardsburg Presbyterian Church was dear to Dorothy. Besides being a member, she served as church elder, deacon, secretary and treasurer. She was a loyal supporter of her church. Her husband, Carl, is just under 100 years old. Having been married for 65 years, Carl would tell Dorothy, “I love you, Dorothy” every night just before going to bed. The family and her husband Carl express sincere appreciation to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center for the dedicated care she received.
Family and friends gathered Monday, Nov. 28, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Edwardsburg Presbyterian Church, 58961 Lake St., Edwardsburg, for reflections.
The Christian service was Tuesday, Nov. 29, at 11 a.m. at the church, where gathering began at 10 a.m. Officiating the service was the Rev. Scott Scheel, pastor of the church.
After the service, family and friends gathered in the church social area for a luncheon.
Dorothy will be laid to rest in Adamsville Cemetery following the cremation that will take place after her Christian service.
