COA in December

The following activities are scheduled at the Cass County Council on Aging in December:

Dec. 1, Thursday: Medication Drop-off. Bring in unused, expired or unwanted medications for proper disposal from 10 a.m. to noon. Medications must be in their original, labeled containers and signed in when dropped off.

Dec. 2, 9, and 16, Thursdays: Dance Club. Dance to a variety of musical styles and enjoy the fellowship of friends. 9 a.m.

Dec. 2, 9, and 17, Fridays: Knitting and Crocheting. The group is open to anyone who likes to knit or crochet, regardless of skill level. They share techniques, stories and fun while knitting items to donate to charity. 10 a.m. to noon.

Dec. 5 and 19, Mondays: Quilting Club. All quilters are welcome to join the Quilting Club. The group will create, learn and share their wares by donating them to local charities. 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Dec. 6, Tuesday: Volunteer Holiday Party. All Council on Aging volunteers are welcome to join us for breakfast, entertainment, prizes and fun. RSVP please. 9 a.m.

Dec. 7, 14, 21 and 28, Wednesdays: Cribbage Club. Open to Cribbage players of all skill levels, play begins at 1 p.m. on Wednesdays.

Dec. 12, Monday: Brain Aerobics. “Fitness for your Mind” exercises the brain and stimulates neurons. This is a free class, but you must register due to space limitations. This class is open to everyone. 10 a.m. to noon. Same class is repeated on Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church in Dowagiac.

Dec. 12, Monday: Movies for Grown-ups. Monthly Monday movies are back to regular features from AARP’s “Best Movies for Grown-ups” list. Free popcorn, movie starts at 1:15 p.m.

Dec. 12, Monday and Dec. 30, Wednesday: Computer Assistance. Friendly volunteers from the Cass District Library will help individuals with computer issues in our redesigned Information Center. Use our computers or bring your laptop. 10 a.m. to noon.

Dec. 15, Thursday: Christmas Dinner. Join us for holiday fun with entertainment by Mary Rademacher (vocals) and Mark Kahny (keyboard). Dinner is $5 or less, entertainment is free. Noon.

Dec. 16, Friday: Constantine Choristers. Kids and Christmas music go together like red and white on a candy cane, so come and enjoy the annual Christmas Program before lunch at 11:30 a.m.

Dec. 16, Friday: Book Club. The “Read & Share” club has selected “I Still Dream About You” for December. All are welcome to join in the lively discussions of this like-minded group of avid readers! 1 to 2:30 p.m. Read ahead for January: Once Upon A River by Kalamzoo author Bonnie Jo Campbell.

Dec. 23-26, Thursday through Saturday: COA Closed for Christmas Holiday.

Dec. 30 – Jan. 2, Thursday through Saturday: COA Closed for New Year’s Holiday.
