Several Niles businesses will be offering special deals and discounts during the area’s first Holiday Progressive Shopping Party this Saturday.

Twenty-three businesses are taking, which begins at 9:30 a.m. and concludes at around 6:30 p.m.

Each merchant will be offering its best deals of the day during the times listed below.

People can enter a grand prize drawing for a 32-inch flat-screen television by having a shopper card validated at each of the 23 participating businesses Saturday. Shopper cards can be picked up at any participating merchant on the day of the shopping party. No purchase is necessary for validation. People with at least five validations can enter a drawing for other prizes.

The shopping party concludes with a party, food and prize drawing at 5:30 p.m. at the Riverfront Cafe, 219 N. Front St.

Niles merchants hope the shopping party will expose more people to what downtown Niles businesses have to offer.

“I still have people coming into my store from all over saying, ‘I didn’t know you were here,’” said Christine Hoffman, owner of Niles Styles. “We want people to get to know our shops, who is out there and what is available. This shopping party should encourage that.”

The participating merchants in downtown Niles are putting on the shopping party. Niles Styles and Your Kitchen Connection are donating the TV for the grand prize drawing.

Hoffman hopes the Holiday Progressive Shopping Party becomes a tradition.

“We would absolutely love to do it in the future,” she said. “We just had a very successful Small Business Saturday, and we are hoping this helps bring more people to the small businesses here as well.”
