Maxine A. Gebhard, 97, formerly of Cassopolis, passed away Sunday, Nov. 6, 2011, at Buchanan Meadows, Buchanan.
She was born on Aug. 19, 1914, in Estherville, Iowa to Ray and Genevieve (Huffman) Ellis. She married Edward Gebhard on Nov. 11, 1939, in Harbor Beach. He preceded her in death on May 17, 1977. She was also preceded in death by her cousin she raised, Donald Merkle.
She was a member of United Presbyterian Church, Cassopolis.
Maxine is survived by one son, Michael Gebhard of Kenai, Alaska; one sister, Mary Wise, Aurora, Colo.; and three nephews, Lee (Sherry) Wise of Clark Summit, Pa., Scott (Sherry) Wise of Aurora, Colo. and Kurt (Kathy) Wise of North Haven, Conn.
Family and friends will gather at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Cassopolis on Thursday, Nov. 10, at 11 a.m. for a graveside service officiated by the Rev. Stephen Kaszar.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Connelly Chapel Wagner Family Funerals, Cassopolis.
