ROCKFORD — Undefeated for the first time since 1953, the Edwardsburg football team will head into the post season with a full head of steam.

The Eddies wrapped up their undefeated season Friday night by beaten another undefeated team in Petoskey at Rockford High School 24-14.

The win gives Edwardsburg the home field advantage to open the playoffs this weekend.

After falling behind 7-0 on a Joe Robbins 52 yard pass from Quinn Amell, the Eddies quickly tied the game when Matt North capped off a drive with a 2-yard run.

Petoskey reclaimed the lead early in the second quarter when Robbins scored on a 62-yard run.

Jesse Mays pulled the Eddies back into a tie with Petoskey at 14-14 with a 1-yard scoring run and just before halftime Austin Teeter booted a 23-yard field goal to make it 17-14.

The second half became a defensive battle between the two teams, but the Eddies were able to get the only score when Lee Williamson broke loose for a 64-yard game-wining touchdown run.

Williamson finished with 172 yards on 15 carries as Edwardsburg racked up 366 yards on the ground. The Eddies were just 1-of-4 through the air for 47 yards.

Petoskey (8-1) rushed for 245 yards and threw for 97 as it went 3-of-11 through the air with two interceptions.

Five Edwardsburg players finished with double digit tackles on the night led by Dominic Razanno with 13. Sawyer Reynolds and North both had 12 stops, while Austin Meadows and Col Hunsberger both finished with 11 tackles.
