Cass County offers birding program

“The Wonders of Fall Birds” is the final birding program of the year at Lawless Park.
Join a a leisurely walk Saturday with Jon Wueeper at Lawless Park on Saturday through some of the most scenic countryside in Southwest Michigan.
Bring a field guide, plan on moderate hiking and dress accordingly for the weather. The fee for the event is $5 per person.

Through stimulating discussions, searching for and listening to each bird species, this final session will highlight different birds found in Southwest Michigan during the fall season.
Wuepper has been birding for 33 years, starting his “life list” at age 8.
He majored in parks and tourism at Michigan State University and worked at Sarett Nature Center from 1997-2002.
He has been the records compiler for the Berrien Birding Club for 12 years and compiles the statewide winter reports published in state and national journals.
Wueeper writes a weekly column for the Herald Palladium, “Southwest Wildlife,” in addition to feature articles regarding nature and local history.
He is branch manager of local history for Cass District Library in Cassopolis.
