David Squires Harding, loving husband, father and grandfather, peacefully passed from this life, Aug. 26, 2011 at 10:42
p.m. after a diligent fight against cancer.
Thanks to many health care workers and friends that have been so thoughtful during this difficult journey.
He was born Jan. 25, 1933 in Cassopolis. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 51 years, Marjorie (Marj) Freimund Harding; son, Michael David (Kim) Harding; precious granddaughter, Jordan Kathryn Harding; brother, Charles J. (Marcia) Harding; nieces, nephews and many wonderful and caring friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George W. and Kathryn Squires Harding of Cassopolis.
He graduated in 1951 from Cassopolis High School and attended Michigan State University.
Besides his family, his passions were fishing, hunting and camping. He served his country with the Army as a Military Policeman in Okinawa. He was an Eagle Scout and a member of Lowell Scout Committee, Lowell Area Historical Museum, life member of Peninsular Lodge 10 and several fishing clubs.
He owned Harding & Associates, a manufacturing rep business of fishing, hunting, camping and marine products covering five states.
Honoring his request for cremation a private burial will be held at a later date at Oakwood Cemetery-Lowell. Visitation was held Monday, Aug. 29 from 4 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the memorial service which was on Tuesday, Aug. 30 at 11 a.m. Both were at Roth-Gerst Funeral Home, 305 N. Hudson, Lowell.
Larry Settle, retired minister of Pleasant View Church of Christ of Cassopolis, officiated.
