Cass falls in season opener to Lawton

LAWTON — Trent Sauer threw for 342 yards and three touchdowns to lead host Lawton to a season-opening 28-18 victory over Cassopolis Friday night.

Sauer threw touchdown passes of 86, 1 and 58 yards as the Rangers were unable to control the Blue Devils’ passing game. Kurt St. Clair caught two of those scoring strikes, while Kyle Miller hauled in the other pass.

Cassopolis (0-1) got three touchdowns from Evan Brown. Brown scored on runs of 48, 28 and 10 yards.

Brown finished with 144 yards on 16 carries.

Sauer was 10-of-22. St. Clair finished with four receptions for 179 yards and Josh Hamilton three catches for 107 yards.

Cass travels to River Valley Thursday.
