Car-motorcycle crash in Ontwa Twp.

EDWARDSBURG — Ontwa Township-Edwardsburg Police are releasing information about an Aug. 25 traffic crash with injuries (motorcycle vs. car) near M-62 and Gateway Drive.
Chief Kenneth Wray reports that his officers are investigating a traffic crash involving a motorcycle and a car that took place at 7:55 a.m. Thursday morning at M-62 and Gateway Drive. A motorcycle driven by a Lewis Maxfield, 58, of Nappanee, Ind., with a passenger, his wife, Andrea Maxfield, 64, of Nappanee, was northbound on M-62 when a vehicle driven by Barbara Cook, 87, from Cassopolis, was attempting to turn left onto Gateway and turned in front of the motorcycle.
Police were assisted by Edwardsburg Area Ambulance.
Mr. and Mrs. Maxfield were transported by ambulance to a South Bend hospital to be treated for their injuries. Citations were issued and alcohol did not seem to be a contributing factor.
