Chieftain JV softball team squares record

The Dowagiac JV softball team swept a doubleheader from Wolverine Conference foe Three Rivers on Tuesday.

The Chieftains won the opening game 15-2 and the nightcap 14-4.

Katie Ward was the winning pitcher in both games as she allowed just three earned runs with 15 strikeouts and just three walks.

In the first game, Shelby Huston, Kylee Williams and Bri McCuddy all had multiple hits.

In the second game, Casey Weldy, Huston and Corinne Kasper had multiple hits.

On Monday afternoon against St. Joseph, the Chieftains squared their record at 6-6 with a sweep of St. Joseph.

Dowagiac won the opener 17-2 and the nightcap 17-3.

Ward was the winning pitcher in both games. She allowed just six hits, struck out six and did not walk a batter.

Weldy had multiple hits in the first game, while Huston and Kasper had multiple hits in the nightcap.
