Savon Brown finished with a game-high 19 points, Jalen Brown added 12 and Ryan Catalano chipped in with 11.

Austin Kaiser scored 15 for Lakeshore and Ryan Avery tallied 11 in the loss for the Lancers.

From there it was the Bucks making an 11-4 run to close out the first quarter and hold a 17-12 lead after on quarter of play.

The Lancer cut into the lead through the second quarter and trailed by five at the intermission.

In the third, Buchanan saw its advantage vanish as the Lancers came back to take a 42-38 lead as the third quarter was winding down.

Jalen Brown cut it to two with three seconds and miss on a free throw attempt to cut it back to a one-point game heading into the final eight minutes of play.

With the game tied at 44 Savon Brown came up with a big basket off another Lakeshore turnover to regain the lead, one that the Bucks would not let get away as they hit 10-of-14 free throws down the final three minutes of the game to move them forward into the district championship game at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Edwardsburg…50

Dowagiac…57

Dowagiac jumped out to a quick start in Wednesday’s Class B semifinal on their home court and held on for a 57-50 win over Edwardsburg in the second game of the semifinal twinbill.

The Chieftains will move into Friday’s championship game along with Buchanan, a 58-49 winner over Lakeshore in the night’s first contest.

The Chieftains raced out to an early 15-2 lead in the opening five minutes of the first quarter with their pressure defense and quickness on the offensive end. Darius Wilson was the spark plug for Dowagiac in the quarter scoring eight of his 12 points. Dontel Highsmith dropped in nine of his team-high 22 in the opening period for a 20-9 lead heading into the second quarter.

Edwardsburg got its offense going in the second quarter as Josh Kozinski netted 13 of his game-high 26 points in the period. The Chieftains kept pace with the Eddies and went into the locker room at the half with a 38-28 lead.

A sluggish third quarter by each team saw the Eddies shaved two points off the Dowagiac lead outscoring the Chieftains 10-8 and head into the final eight minutes of the game down by eight.

Kozinski opened the fourth quarter with a four-point play, knocking down a 3-pointer and he was fouled on the shot. After hitting the free throw, the lead was cut to four 46-42.

The Eddies couldn’t get any closer as Highsmith heated up and Dowagiac went on a 9-2 run to stretch the lead back to 11 (57-46) with three minutes to play.

Kozinski added the final four points for the Eddies for the final score.
