Bobcats fall to Comets

Visiting Coloma outscored Brandywine 16-12 in the final quarter Thursday night en route to a 50-48 Lakeland Conference victory in the regular season finale for both teams.

The Comets grabbed an early 12-5 lead on the Bobcats after one period of play. The two teams scored 11 points in the second quarter, which left Brandywine trailing 36-23 at halftime.

The Bobcats came out of the locker room to start the second half and exploded for 20 points, while again holding Coloma to just 11.

As a result, Brandywine led 36-36 heading into the final quarter of the regular season.

Brandywine was unable to mantain that tempo in the final stanza and came up a basket short.

Jacob Frazier had a game-high 25 points in his home finale, while No other Bobcat scored more than four points.

BERRIEN SPRINGS — Scoring just three points in the first and fourth quarters Tuesday night, the visiting Brandywine boys’ basketball team dropped its 10th Lakeland Conference game of the season.

Host Berrien Springs (10-9, 6-5 Lakeland) took an early 11-3 advantage on the Bobcats (7-12, 1-10) on its way to a 45-28 victory.

Brandywine was able to work its way back into the game in the second quarter as it cut the Shamrocks’ advantage to 18-17 as the two teams headed to the locker room at the intermission.

Berrien Springs used a 14-8 advantage in the scoring column in the third quarter to open up a 32-25 lead heading to the final period and then held the Bobcats to just three points to earn the easy victory.

Zechariah Jenkins led the Shamrocks with 12 points.

Jacob Frazier shared game-high honors with Jenkins as he paced the Bobcats with 12 points. Alex Erwin added seven.
