CASSOPOLIS — Cass County Sheriff Joseph Underwood Jr. reports his deputies handled an accidental death involving a child on Saturday at 10:22 a.m. in Vandalia.

The victim was identified as 3-year-old Peter Klembara from Vandalia. According to witnesses and the investigation it appears he was accidentally kicked by a horse.

Life Care Ambulance assisted deputies at the scene.

The child was transported to Three Rivers Hospital, where he passed away as a result of his injuries.
