Doris E. Landis, 90, of Union, passed to her rest Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011 at Greenleaf Health Living Center in Elkhart after an illness.

Doris was born Nov. 24, 1920 in Union to the late Daniel and Ola (Jones) Holdeman, and had lived in this area most of her life. She worked in Elkhart for Reis Products for several years.

She was married Dec. 31, 1937 in LaPorte, Ind. to Floyd Oscar Landis, who passed away Oct. 28, 1969.

She is survived by seven children: Virginia Reading of Florida; Mariam (Gerald) Steele of New York; Shirley (Ronald) Vargo of Niles; Beverly (Charles) Bollenbacher of Osceola, Ind.; Elsie (Jim) LeVan of Union; Norman (Betty) Landis of Shelby, Mich.; and Delbert (Bonnie) Landis of Schoolcraft, Mich. There are 25 loving grandchildren and many dear great-grandchildren. She has one sister, Phyllis Holdeman of Elkhart and a deceased brother, Clifford Holdeman.

There will be a service of remembrance for Doris on Friday, Jan. 7 at 1 p.m. at Chapel Hill Missionary Church, 14525 Chapel Hill Rd., Union.

Friends and family may gather at the church for one hour before the service.

Officiating will be the Rev. Randy Smith, pastor of Faith Community Church, Elkhart.

Burial will follow at Kessington Cemetery, Union.

Arrangements are by Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home, Edwardsburg.
