CASSOPOLIS — The eighth annual Stone Lake Ice Fishing Derby will be held on Saturday, Jan. 29.

Pre-registration will take place at Marcello’s Pizzeria beginning on Thursday, Jan. 27 and running through Jan. 29.

There will be three fish categories and a $600 prize in each category based on a minimum of 150 entrants. Categories are bluegill, perch and crappie.

Registration fee is $20, which includes a $5 gift certificate to be used at any sponsoring business.

This year’ sponsors are The Cassopolis/Vandalia Chamber of Commerce, Neighbors,The Trading Post, Swiss Valley, Marcello’s, Vlasicak’s Meat Market, Broadway Cafe, Dussel’s, Cassopolis COA, Cassopolis Subway, Full Bull Tavern, Porky’s Party Place, Hayden Hardware and Cassopolis Harding’s.

Fish will be judged based on length at official measurement. The contest will run from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. Check-in and official judging will be held at Marcello’s.
