Cass GOP ‘Whistle Stop Tour’ today
Published 4:43 am Saturday, October 23, 2010
As election time draws near, Cass County Republicans will show their support for their local candidates as well as other state and national Republican candidates by hosting their well-known “Whistle Stop Tour” throughout the county today.
The “Whistle Stop Tour” has become a tradition for Cass County Republicans who have hosted this event in each of the past four election cycles.
The tour is reminiscent of the bus and train whistle stops, which candidates have utilized through the decades in their campaign efforts.
Republican candidates and supporters “caravan” across the county with high-visibility Republican Party decorations adorning their vehicles.
Those interested in supporting or learning more about Republican candidates can come out, obtain literature, pick up signs, bumper stickers, lapel stickers and other materials, as well as volunteer to help during the remaining days before the Nov. 2 election.
Citizens can stop by at any or all of the “Whistle Stop” locations, including noon in downtown Dowagiac.
Various state and local Republican office holders and candidates are expected to be on hand.
“Whistle Stops” today take place at the following locations:
• 8:30 a.m. — Niles, The Stop Inn, M-60.
• 9:45 a.m. — Edwardsburg, Lunkers parking lot.
• 11 a.m. — downtown Cassopolis.
• Noon — downtown Dowagiac.
• 2 p.m. — downtown Marcellus.
• 3:15 p.m. — Union, Hall’s Bait and Tackle.
“Whistle Stop” Chair Carolyn Murray stated, “This will be a great rally. We have the ground troops in Michigan to get Snyder, Schuette and Johnson elected along with our other fine Cass County Republican elected officials and candidates. We all look forward to a strong victory in November.”
The local GOP headquarters across the street from the Edwardsburg Post Office also remains open through Tuesday, Nov. 2, with the following hours: Monday through Friday, 5 to 7 p.m.; and Saturdays, 9 to 11 a.m.
