Niles High School will host the District 6 Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association (MSBOA) Marching Band Festival Wednesday. Paw Paw will also host a District 6 festival that day.
The Vikings will be looking to get a 1 rating, just as they did last year at the festival. The band’s show this year is “Wicked” with selections from the popular Broadway musical, including “Dancing through Life” and “Defying Gravity.”
The band has 107 members this season.
The bands will be judged on music, marching and general effect. Each band has a 15-minute window to enter the field, perform and exit.
The schedule is as follows:
Buchanan (class C), 4:45 p.m.; Berrien Springs (class B) 5 p.m.; Bridgman (class D), 5:15 p.m.; River Valley (class D), 5:30 p.m.; Cassopolis (class D), 5:45 p.m.; Coloma (class B), 6 p.m.; New Buffalo (class D), 6:30 p.m.; Dowagiac (class B), 6:45 p.m.; Benton Harbor (class A), 7 p.m.; Edwardsburg (class B), 7:15 p.m.; Niles (class B), 7:30 p.m.
The Niles Marching Invitational, which was scheduled for September, was cancelled this year due to schools’ travel budget cuts.
