Dowagiac hosting soccer, volleyball districts

Dowagiac will host both the Division 3 soccer and Division 2 volleyball tournaments this fall.

The soccer tournament will get under way the week of Oct. 18 with games at various sites. Dowagiac will then host the semifinals and finals on Oct. 20 and Oct. 23.

The volleyball tournament will begin Nov. 1 with a pair of matches and continue Nov. 2 and conclude with the championship on Nov. 4.

Soccer district draw

Dowagiac will host Bangor in the opening round of the district tournament on Oct. 18 at 4:30 p.m.

In other first round matches, Brandywine will host Coloma, Cassopolis will host Berrien Springs and Hartford will host Buchanan. All matches begin at 4:30 p.m.

The winners of the Brandywine-Coloma and Cassopolis-Berrien Springs matches will play Oct. 20 in Dowagiac at 4:30 p.m. The winners of Dowagiac-Bangor and Hartford-Buchanan will square off Oct. 21 in Dowagiac at 4:30 p.m.

The championship match is slated for Saturday, Oct. 23 at noon in Dowagiac.

The winner advances to the regional to be held Oct. 26-30 at Hope College.

Volleyball district draw

Edwardsburg and Buchanan will open up the district tournament at 5 p.m. at Dowagiac with the host Chieftains facing Berrien Springs in the second match at 7 p.m. Nov. 1.

Lakeshore and St. Joseph both earned first round byes and will play in the semifinals Nov. 2.

St. Joseph will take on the winner of the Dowagiac-Berrien Springs match at 5 p.m., while Lakeshore gets the winner of the Edwardsburg-Buchanan match at 7 p.m.

The championship match is set for Thursday, Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. The winner advances to the Three Rivers regional Nov. 9-11.
