An even greater need

Dear editor:

Each year our community comes together to support our Edwardsburg Emergency Fund and Food Pantry through a pancake breakfast.

The breakfast will be held on Saturday, Sept. 25 from 8 to 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church.

We welcome all our fellow members of the Chamber to attend and fellowship with us.

Each year in conjunction with this community effort we solicit the local businesses for contributions for response to the needs of families in our community (we make no other soliciting efforts to businesses throughout the year). In the last year we have seen a significant increase in the demand for our services and we have been blessed to have met nearly every need we receive.

With the financial picture still very weak, we are anticipating an even greater need this fall, winter and spring. We would appreciate any monetary donation your business would offer to support the food pantry, which assists the community with food, utilities, gas and prescriptions.

If you are not familiar with what the pantry does, please come to our booth at the expo on Sept. 30.

Also note that we are applying for the Edwardsburg Emergency Fund and Food Pantry to become a non-profit corporation with 501(c) (3) status.

At the end of the year we will then be sending out contribution letters to all our supporters.

We thank you for your consideration and support in our local community.

Thank you,

Rev. Jeff Reese, Father Joe McCormick, Rev. Scott Scheel
